Where: Newtown, Sydney – 1997
Perth’s Early Hours were one of the finest exponents of guitar-fuelled power pop in the 90’s and it is an injustice that they never made it. From on early, the Rockbrat was a believer – and this image, taken at The Sandringham in Newtown on their first East Coast tour back in 1997 is one of my favourite pix. Brother Kirk and Chet Pohl are snapped whilst concentrating on chords. I will ramble on about the Early Hours in the future but it really is a disgrace the way they achieved greater popularity in places like Spain and German than with the fickle Sydney and local scene. A great gig from a truly great band.
