Best Gigs The Rockbrat’s Seen ? AC/DC – Sydney (1988)

Who: AC/DC
When: Tue 11 February, 1988 – Sydney Entertainment Centre

It had been seven long years since Angus, Malcom and the boys had been back home – touring wise – and local fans were hungry for a tour ! The prayers were answered when the band kicked off their Blow Up Your Video world tour with a whopping 20 date tour of Australia and New Zealand. My ticket tells me that I was at the first Sydney show – which was supported by the great Party Boys. Kevin Borich and John Swan had both crossed paths with AC/DC many times in the 70’s and it was great to see a top shelf support act like the Party Boys open the shows. My memory is hazy but I do recall AC/DC kicked off with the then-current single (remember them ?) ‘Heatseeker’, and was followed by a host of favorites from the rich back-cataloge. ‘Hells Bells’ was great, as was ‘Sin City’ and as usual, the giant roar of the cannons during the ‘For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)’ encore are still ringing in the Rockbrat ears ! A great night with Australia’s finest ever export….
