Still in NYC in 1996, Mr. Rockbrat and Cowboy Col often found ourselves drawn to St. Marks Place with it’s cool record stores. Lot of NYC rock history in this vicinity too. We often found ourselves at Coney Island High at 15 St. Marks Place,(between 2nd and 3rd Aves) which in the mid 90’s was the punk venue in NYC. I believe it was the first place owned by D-Generation singer Jesse Malin. I remember seeing Jayne County doing the guest DJ thing here one night, (although Walter Lure was a no show). Also saw the Red Aunts too, and I remember MRR scribe George Tabb walking around at one point. Looking back at these flyers, you could do worse for a night out than seeing Dee Dee Ramone or Jeff Magnum as a guest DJ. They used to do Max’s Kansas City theme nights and also a couple of the Joey Ramone birthday shows were here too. The place closed down due to noise complaints and nowadays is operating as a noodle house. Check out these flyers and souvenir match book.
