‘A Portable Altamont’ has finally been released, and as expected it’s a fist shakin’ slice of guitar ramalama which will rightfully have the Swedish rock brethren looking over their shoulder. Stewart ‘Leadfinger’ Cunningham creates catchy, raw and hard rockin’ tuneage with hooks galore ! This cat plays ‘the riff’ better than an army full of denim jacket wearing Rick Parfitt’s. For fans of the New Christs, Celibate Rifles and Birdman, if you ain’t hip to Brother Brick then wait no longer. ‘Chip On My Shoulder’ is straight down the line, ballsy rock action which rocks mighty fine. ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Marie’ again cooks , with the clean and crisp vocal complimenting the wall of dirty guitars. ‘Drives Me Wild’ has that contagious riff again rocking me senseless, and a sing along chorus. What a fucking ball tearer ! Every track on ‘Altamont’ has the goods, and no reader of ‘Cat Scratch Fever’ should be without this. Brother Brick have sounded a chord which will reverberate well into the new millennium, of that you can be sure.
