Veteran Sydney hard rockers Tough Luxury make a return to gigging with a show at The Bridge Hotel in Rozelle on March 8 with Love Child. Tough Luxury were stalwarts of the Oz hard rock scene of the 1980s and released a highly regarded album on Possum Records in 1986 called ‘Streetwise’, before morphing into the band Fetish in the late 1980’s with former Surrender front man Dave Compton on vocals. Streetwise was chock full of heavy riffs and a hard rocking boogie sound – and sat comfortably alongside LPs by other great Oz metal bands of the time, including Heaven and Boss.
The lineup for March includes original members Stuart Cave (vocals), Peter Rich (guitar), Dave Edwards (guitar), and Kevin McDonald (bass).
On episode 35 of the Australian Rock Show (2015) Peter Rich, Tough Luxury’s guitar player joined us and we revisited ‘Streetwise’ in great detail. Peter also talked about Tough Luxury’s reissuing of ‘Streetwise’. Tune in to discover one of Australian hard rock’s most under-appreciated albums.
