‘Australian Rock Show’ podcast host releases debut novel

For Denis Gray, host of The Australian Rock Show podcast, last year’s stay-at-home lock down meant one thing: to finally publish that book he’d written over twenty-five years ago.
He originally wrote the manuscript for the teen-fiction ‘Movin On’ in 1993 and it remained in a box ever since. The project was finally completed with the publication of the book in February.

‘I was determined to bring the book to life and had plenty of time at home last year to do just that. Essentially, I just immersed myself in the book for six months and really enjoyed the process.’

‘Movin’ On’ is set in 1977 and centers around the life of Jeff Walker – a teenager who digs dirt bikes and rock n roll. Music is obviously a big part of the book, which much of the story line given to Flame – a loud hard rock outfit who ruled the rock world in 1977.

‘Jeff resides in a small town with his mother and has no real direction. That is, until he discovers an ability to write poetry – which in turn enables him to find opportunities elsewhere. Those who have read it, tell me it’s an engaging book which is pleasing. It’s great to hear positive feedback after such a long and arduous journey in re-writing and then self-publishing the book. I think teenagers from any era will dig it.’

Since 2014, Gray has produced The Australian Rock Show podcast and has interviewed some of the biggest names in rock – including past or present members of AC/DC, Kiss, Guns n Roses, Motorhead, Status Quo, Thin Lizzy, The Angels, Rainbow, Radio Birdman, Airbourne, Rose Tattoo, Screaming Jets, Skid Row and Orianthi to name but a few.
